Synopsis:
Enric Marco was once the leader of Spain's largest deportee organization, and he frequently spoke in public and on television, discussing his years working with the anti-Nazi resistance and incarceration in a concentration camp. Marco's reputation went into a tailspin when a historian produced evidence that proved he'd wildly exaggerated his experiences during World War II -- in reality, he'd spent just one year in a German prison on charges of distributing communist literature that were later dismissed, and then he returned to Spain without spending years fighting Axis intelligence as he'd claimed. Years later, filmmakers Santiago Fillol and Lucas Vermal joined Marco for a trip to many of the historic locations he spoke of but had never seen for himself. Ich Bin Enric Marco is a documentary that follows Marco as he traces his 1941 journey to Germany (a time when Franco sent Spanish workers to help the Axis cause), and then detours through France as he sees the haunts of the Resistance for the first time and witnesses the ruins of the concentration camp where many Spaniards met their fate.
